Bat Cave
Just a 30-minute walk from Bukit Lawang, through rubber plantations and woodland, are the bat caves. These huge caves are not only home to numerous stalactites and stalagmites, but also many species of insects, snakes, bats and swallows.
You need a flashlight to see anything in the cave, which is about 500 meters long.

Snake Excursion
Meet Ipul the Snake-man from the jungles of Sumatra. He has many stories, e.g. how he survived the bite of a king cobra. During the approx. 2-hour night tour, he tracks down many different snakes.

Bukit Lawang Tour
During a 1/2-day tour in a traditional cab, you will be taken outside the tourist town of Bukit Lawang to local villages and cultural sites.
You will learn how the locals live and work and pass rice fields, rubber and cocoa plantations.
You will see how tofu or brown sugar is made and how rice is processed.

Rafting
Float down the Bohorok River in large rubber inner tubes. The river is perfect for tubing as it has some interesting white water sections and some calm sections where you can enjoy the surroundings. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and the refreshing water.

Elefant Camp
A two-hour drive from Bukit Lawang is Tangkahan, famous for its herd of Sumatran elephants rescued by the Elephant Response Unit from conflict situations in Aceh.
Now they live in a safe environment and are trained to patrol the forests together with their mahouts. Visitors can also accompany the elephants in the forest and while bathing in the river.
